Sources and method
The numbers of the day are computed by code straight from official data and written with fixed sentences: no language model generates or edits the figures. The podcast text is polished by a model, then an automatic check verifies that every figure matches the original block; if it does not, the original block is read.
Planet: earthquakes of magnitude 6 or more, or 5 and above with a USGS yellow-or-higher alert or a tsunami flag; GDACS orange and red alerts that are new or worsened in the last 24 hours. Health: every new WHO report in the last 72 hours.
Economy: for each exchange rate and market series we compare the 1-day and 5-day change with the standard deviation of the same changes over the last 60 business days (yields in basis points). We report moves above 2 times and new 52-week highs or lows, at most 5 items ranked by deviation.
